SUMMARY AND EXAMPLES

The overall driving objective of this study was to determine the degree to which certain advertisements in the media portray older individuals differently depending on the target audience. Specifically, this study examines marketers’ and advertisers’ attempts, in the electronic (e.g., television) and print (e.g., magazines and newspapers) media, to target and attract the business of the older American population.
